The Buzz About Bees! Click this title to find out about the Warre Hive!

My cousin is a great photographer and one day, in the garden, she spotted a beautiful bee...she tried to set the zoom function on her camera for the shot, but it was broken!  So, my brave cousin leaned in for this shot!  No zoom!

My friend, Sue, from Colorado, came to visit last weekend and presented me with a jar of fresh, raw honey from her hive!  She spent the weekend telling me about the benefits of eating raw honey and how I should get into beekeeping too!  She said that with all my flowers, it's a no brainer to have some hives on the property as well!  I must admit, since her visit, I've been doing lots of research on beekeeping, honey and it's many glorious virtues, and trying on the idea of becoming a beekeeper.
I'm not there yet!  But I have gone to lengths this week to find my LOCAL source of raw honey and today I purchased a few jars!  No matter whether I am going to have a hive or not, I now have my local supplier of raw honey...because now I have honey in my life!  Thanks to Sue!  By the way, she has a Warre hive...(click here for more information about the Warre Hive!)

2010 Season Coming to a Close. Bitter Sweet.

It's Oct. 4th and last year we closed on Oct. 12th.  We will remain open for those of you who'd like to pick Gomphrena to dry, Lemon Balm, Apple and Licorice Mint, to dry, Zinnias for the kitchen table,
and some Strawflowers to dry......of course, if you really look around, you'll find some lovely Black Eyed Susans, Amaranth, Ageratum, and Celosia...I'd say that starting next Sunday, we will be pulling up the annuals and starting to put the garden to bed.

It's been an amazing year!  Even with a drought!  Thanks to Drip Works for such wonderful Drip Tape and to Dan for hauling all that water to the garden!

We are scheduled for an artesian well this fall, so next year's garden will be guaranteed.

We are branching out into the world of Herbs and Edible flowers for next we will still have the lovely pick your own flower garden and will also have a new sister garden full of Herbs and Edible flowers.......that's the dream!  Gotta have a dream!!!  Thank you for your steady patronage!
Have a wonderful fall/winter/spring and we'll see you next summer!

Field of Dreams - People Will Come

I have a little needlepoint pillow that my sister in law gave to me years ago. I placed it in my living room and it's message called out to me over the years...Two summers ago, I decided to 'Follow My Dreams' and set out to create a large scale flower I was creating the garden, things began to happen, wonderful things... The garden evolved into a thriving pick your own summer business. I met many new friends in the garden. Exciting opportunities and creative new ideas have come, and are constantly coming, my way...I truly believe that if you follow the path of what you are passionate about...the path of your dreams, no matter how difficult or scary it may seem, that things will unfold for you in beautiful ways that you could not even imagine.
